| Summary: | Reel 1 shows the Rocky Mountains, forests, lakes, and the rushing waters of the Columbia River. Workmen operate power shovels, bulldozers, and other equipment to construct the Grand Coulee Dam near Spokane, Wash. Tractors and trucks haul excavated material and dump it on conveyor belts to be carried away. Cement is mixed in a plant. Reel 2, cement from the mixing plant is unloaded into steel silos. Buckets of concrete are carried by cable from the mixing plant and dumped into the dam. Tourists arrive in buses and watch the construction operations from bleachers. Shows the reservoir site, the arid land to be irrigated, and views of farms, trees, homes, and other benefits which the dam will make possible. |
