| Summary: | This series explores events within the school year featuring interviews with members of staff responsible for managing and delivering the events. Forming a partnership with parents has long been a feature of accepted wisdom when it comes to securing higher levels of student achievement. The parents' evening is an established feature of school life, but a great deal of effort is required if good levels of attendance are to be secured. In the example featured in this programme, 80% of the families have English as a second language, so additional provision needs to be made in the form of interepreters. The film features these elements of organisation, in addition to the more everyday points such as advanced preparation of the tutors and the production of reports. Programme notes which help to plan these events are available on the Teachers' TV website. |
