Description
Summary:This series explores events within the school year featuring interviews with members of staff responsible for managing and delivering the events. It is said that school trips provide us with our most enduring school memories. They also give opportunities for learning not available within the curriculum. Our featured school is in an urban context with a high proportion of students coming from economically disadvantaged homes as they embark on a trip to Barcelona. When teaching staff have organised trips in the past, some students have experienced their very first time travelling abroad. This adds real motivation for the teacher to organise such events in the knowledge that the horizons of students are being extended far beyond their current experience. The programme captures this along with the need to be prepared for any eventuality, and how to gain the confidence of parents. Programme notes which help to plan these events are available on the Teachers' TV website.
