Description
Summary:Christopher Nupen's film portrays Alice Sommer Herz, a woman with the true gift of forgiveness. A Nazi concentration camp prisoner for two years with her six-year-old son, suffering deaths of her mother and her husband in the camp, she also remembers playing more than 100 concerts in the camp and likens the experience, both for the performers and for the listeners, to being close to the divine. Alice is in no doubt that music saved her sanity as well as her life and the lives of hundreds of others. She plays extracts from Impromptu no. 2, op. 142 : D 935 / Schubert ; Czech dance / Smetana ; Sonata no. 14 in C-sharp minor, op. 27 no. 2 / Beethoven.
