Description
Summary:Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client centered, goal directed counseling style developed by Drs. William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick to help people change behavior. MI involves learning to use simple but powerful techniques that help to quickly establish a productive, working relationship with clients, allowing them to explore their own motivation, ambivalence, and resistance to change and to efficiently guide them toward more desirable behavior. The effectiveness of MI has been demonstrated in a variety of settings with many different types of clients in several different countries. Dr. Bill Matulich is a clinical psychologist in San Diego, California. He is a member of the international network of Motivational Interviewing trainers (MINT) and has taught Motivational Interviewing workshops and classes to teachers, counselors, case managers, psychologists, interns, substance abuse counselors, nurses and others.
