Description
Summary:Little League Baseball's history dates back to the 1930s and in 1989 the Challenger Division was established to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to have a chance to enjoy the game of baseball as well. This moving documentary, featuring an original soundtrack by Jonny Cournoyer and Old War Shirt, takes us to a small town outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to learn the story of one special little league baseball team's journey to get ready for their opening day. Here we meet a group of mentally and physically challenged kids, the Upper Providence Phillies, who are inspired by their coach and families to play ball, and in doing so they inspire all of us. Today, there are more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide and more than 30,000 children like the boys and girls in this program who, thanks to the types of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals seen in this program, assist young people with special needs in finding positive ways to deal with the challenges they face.
