Description
Summary:Minnesota Senator and five-time presidential candidate, Eugene McCarthy was a staunch opponent to the Vietnam War. In this interview, McCarthy recalls the gradual involvement in Vietnam and the steps each president took to increase funding and eventually send in troops. He talks about the administration getting deeper and deeper into military involvement, and whether or not they truly understood how much military involvement was required. McCarthy believes the information reaching officials such as Robert McNamara was often incorrect. McCarthy also recounts the effect the war had on his presidential campaign.
