In Kiwalik, Chip and Agnes Hailstone go on a hunt for needed caribou before the region thaws completely and they are unable to cross the river. In Eagle, Andy Bassich can only watch and wait as the Yukon River begins to breakup, threatening his camp. In Chandalar, the spring thaw allows Glenn Villeneuve to search for previously unattainable food. And in Kavik, a flooded runway hinders Sue Aikens' ability to sell fuel to incoming clients.
