| Summary: | Against the backdrop of the new performance management arrangements, John Bayley visits Carshalton Boys Sports College to help the geography department develop their classroom observation and feedback skills. He works with Head of Department Jane Arbuckle, who's the line manager of Peter Horne, in his third year of teaching. Jane observes Peter taking a Year 8 lesson on rivers and John Bayley is there to observe Jane. Peter's performance management targets are to raise his KS3 results by introducing more assessment for learning into his lessons. Jane's challenge is to help Peter develop his own strategy to achieve his targets. John Bayley observes and comments on Jane's lesson feedback to Peter, and draws a surprising conclusion. |
