The process starts with an interview skills lesson, preparing students for coming face to face with real employers during a mock interview day. The pupils use sequencing cards to role-play questions asked by employers at previous events. They then feed back to the group their individual emotions towards their impending interview. The Mock Interview day itself is a big event, involving 170 year 11 students, 20 staff and around 25 employers from the local community. Covering a range of different industries, from the police and army to sports and engineering, the pupils are interviewed by professionals for a fictitious job vacancy. During an evaluation process with Lynne, the pupils share their views on the experience. |
