Description
Summary:How can you successfully induct and teach pupils in a school with both a high pupil mobility rate, and a large percentage of students with English as an additional language? Cleveland Primary School staff share their strategies. The pupil induction process is seen in action and gives tips on pupil fact finding, administrative techniques, and teacher and pupil preparation. The teaching and EAL team demonstrate techniques, and give ideas, on how to engage pupils with a wide range of English abilities, and from a large number of different ethnic backgrounds.
How can you include and settle pupils that present behavioural and emotional problems? Claremont Community Primary School staff show how their arrangement of support staff integrating an inclusion team, a holistic therapies team, and a Children's Centre do just this. They share their experience and strategies for working with children and their parents, as well as offering advice on how to set up and run a Children's Centre. The overall aim is to enable a pupil's ability to learn by aiding their family to feel secure and settled.
