| Abstract: | The world watched, with breath that was bated, on August 12th 2000, as Russian nuclear submarine "Kursk" of the Northfleet descended outside Murmansk, as a result of powerful explosions on board. Several of the crew was alive after the vessel sank and there was hope of getting the staff out alive as the boat was only 108 meters under the surface. But all attempts to rescue the men failed, and the deceased were not retrieved until Kursk was resurfaced in 2001. |
