Description
Summary:Jenny Comish loves the vibrancy of city children and the feeling that she is making a real difference to their lives. Jenny has been headteacher in a primary school in Kensington, Liverpool for 14 years. The area is badly affected by poverty, violence, drugs and poor housing for asylum seekers. When Jenny arrived, parents had lost confidence in the school. Success in restoring confidence didn't just come by her being nice and supportive. With priorities centred on behaviour (they can't learn if they re not paying attention), making the school a safe area for children (successfully applying four years ago for funding to rebuild the school), and constantly adjusting to the needs of the local community, Jenny has turned the school into a symbol of stability and hope.
