Description
Summary:Have you ever wondered how to bring a planet into the classroom, or switch your class on to electricity? This programme shows how two teachers have differently used their interactive whiteboards to engage their year 6 classes in abstract science topics. Jane Chalmers has her pupils visualising the solar system through animations, while Ally Goff uses virtual circuits to discuss electricity with her class.
How can ICT enliven primary science lessons? Year 4 teacher Helen Hardie has incorporated a range of uses of ICT into her weekly science investigations. By using data loggers, digital video cameras and interactive slideware, she involves and engages her pupils from the outset. Her cup of tea is always getting cold before she has a chance to drink it. How can science help? Aiming to discover the best way to insulate a cup of tea, graphing software lets pupils make sense of the temperature readings they collect. Easy-to-use ICT places the investigation firmly in the eager hands of the pupils.
