Description
Summary:Little Ilford School in East Ham, London, is in a deprived and culturally diverse area, with ninety per cent of children learning English as an additional language. The school begins developing a relationship with parents from the moment Year 7 places are allocated, and continues to build on these relationships throughout the year, in the belief that parental encouragement is key to pupils success. Little Ilford runs thirty two different events for parents including meetings in community languages and special literacy evenings for parents. This programme follows several parents and pupils into their homes where we discover their experiences of the school.
