This visually arresting work is set against the backdrop of Java's stunning natural beauty. Oscillating between the stark landscape of Cerebon in West Java, and the verdant lushness of Wanagama Forest, Aries is a meditation on the varying expressions of love--at once passionate and anguished--between a man and a woman. Despite at times occupying the same physical space, the protagonists each indulge in the privacy of their separate inner-worlds. Richly philosophical in its approach, Aries' appeal comes from the fact that as an experimental work it contains an endless thread of meaning and metaphor for viewers to explore.
