Description
Summary:Saltford C of E Primary School on the outskirts of Bristol uses Ordnance Survey resources as part of its geography and local studies projects. We visit a class which uses the Ordnance Survey website MapZone to learn how to read map symbols. The class then takes a field trip, with two objectives. The first is to take photos for the Geograph website, a site where photos from across the British Isles are matched up with grid references on an Ordnance Survey map. The second objective is to take photos for the local studies project. The children photograph each other holding map symbols against significant features in their local environment. Armed with their pictures, the children return to the ICT suite at school, where they complete the project by electronically putting their photos on an Ordnance Survey map. Finally, they submit their photos of the landscape to the Geograph website. These photos are available to view on line.
