The result of this adventure is the fascinating travel story 'Around the World of a Novelist,' published in three volumes between 1924 and 1925. Within this account, Japan occupies a preponderant space, both in length and in descriptive and analytical involvement on the part of the author. A century later, this book exposes the keys to Japan's prominence in Blasco Ibáñez's story and offers an annotated edition of the chapters that the writer dedicated to his tour of Japanese lands. The previous study of the character and the conception of the trip, as well as the footnotes of the annotated edition, will allow the reading public to better understand the background of the transoceanic crossing, decipher cultural and historical references and enjoy even more the reading of the entertaining and instructive logbook. In addition, researchers interested in the development of Hispanism in Japan will find in this book a novel vision of the birth and evolution of the study of Spanish language and literature and Hispanic cultures in the land of the rising sun and will discover the extraordinary contribution of Blasco Ibáñez in this field.
