| Abstract: | "Scalability of H2 Production by Photocatalysis. Hydrogen has been regarded as a potential fuel of the future due to its green nature and high energy output. Photocatalysis has recently emerged as a promising technique for the production of H2 by using semiconductor materials and water in the presence of light irradiations. Several photocatalysts for this application have shown promise, and some efforts have been made to build prototypes for the demonstration of pilot scale H2 production. However, desired efficiency and catalyst durability have not met United States Department of Energy requirements. This volume offers researchers and industrial professionals needed information on the basic understanding of the photocatalysis process, the difference between photocatalytic H2 evolution and water splitting, and the main requirements and bottlenecks of these processes."-- Provided by publisher. |
