Description
Summary:DJ West, the author of the book Homosexuality, was himself a closeted queer man and this book was first published in 1955, two years before sex between men was decriminalised in the UK. While this was a courageous piece of work to undertake, calling for ‘tolerance’ at the risk of being outed, the content is harrowing for a modern-day reader. These poems are inversions of the text within them. They are angry, radical, sad, funny poems which take the content of the original pages and flip them into vignettes of modern queer life where "tolerance" is the bare minimum and queerness is celebrated.
