Description
Summary:The Montgomery Biscuits are a staple in Alabama's sports scene. Along with having a fun, creative name, the minor league baseball team has also cultivated a reputation for providing a family-friendly environment through whacky promotions, in-game entertainment, and an overall winning franchise. The Biscuits front office staff prides itself on never shying away from considering a new idea, but the latest conversation is a bit different. It's several months into the 2023 season, and with June on the horizon, the newest staff member suggests the Biscuits celebrate the LGBTQ community during Pride Month by hosting a Pride Night. Though it is a common practice in Major League Baseball and in certain parts of the United States, the conversation quickly takes a political turn, with some staffers questioning how Alabama's ultra-conservative population will respond. Students will be asked to analyze what determinations must be made for the staff to adequately weigh their decision for the audience in the respective market.Note: The names of organizations in this business case are real but the characters and conversations are fictitious.
