Description
Summary:As a well-recognized tourism planner in Australia, Tiffany Mason has been asked to consider plans to revitalize leisure activities and restore visitor and business confidence in Dunk Island, off the Queensland coast. Most areas of the island have remained closed to the public since a destructive cyclone struck in 2011; however, it is in the process of restoration with a view to reopening. What strategic plans should be taken to revive Dunk Island's tourism economy? Tiffany has developed plans and strategies to bring Dunk Island's tourism back to life after collaborating with her team and visiting the island. Should she adopt all the proposed strategies? This case study is based on a mixture of fictitious scenarios as well as Dunk Island's current business situation. Students are invited to put themselves in a tourism planner's position and critically analyze the business environment of an island destination.
