Description
Summary:Despite the opportunities and potential benefits to be derived from air travel, many Nigerian airline firms are struggling to survive financially or are on the brink of bankruptcy. Yet new operators are braving the odds to enter this troubled industry. Ibom Air, a government-owned outfit, is a new firm in the aviation industry glowing with optimistic fervor about its future in the industry. It appears optimism alone may not be enough to weather the brewing storm pervading Nigeria's domestic aviation industry. The burgeoning overhead costs of the carriers, the burdening operational costs that in most cases cannot be deferred or transferred to passengers, and the unavailability of foreign exchange are taking a toll on the aviation industry in Nigeria.
