| Summary: | Pulin Biswas, the owner of Sinclair Food Court (SFC), operated two canteens (sit-down eatery food service paid through monthly subscription and with a fixed menu) and two cafeterias (foods and beverages ordered from a menu and bought-out items) on the Sinclair University Campus in eastern India. Many students, unhappy with SFC's limited food choices and availability, resorted to patronizing online food delivery (OFD) platforms and nearby restaurants. For a number of administrative and discipline reasons, Sinclair University's management was unhappy with their students wandering outside the campus or ordering from OFD. The university management thus asked Biswas to open a new restaurant on campus, with the goal of offering better menu choices than what students have available on campus. Biswas considered the choice between a multi-cuisine restaurant with a popular low-priced menu or a specialty restaurant that offered only a premium-priced menu. The new restaurants' operating expenses had to be recovered from sales, and the student population was price- and value-conscious. Students will be asked to determine the size of the potential market, project financial outcomes, and recommend which type of restaurant Biswas should open. |
