Description
Summary:The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) started broadcasting in 1922. Since then, the company has become one of the world's leading public service broadcasters. The BBC Trust is the non-executive governance body of the BBC. A general duty of the Trust is to exercise rigorous stewardship of public money. In 2012/2013, the BBC spent considerable amounts of money on IT projects. One of these projects, the Digital Media Initiative (DMI), has run for years, has cost almost GBP 100 million, and its completion was at risk. This case is written from the perspective of a member of the BBC Trust, who intends to get good insights into risk management and IT governance of the DMI project, in order to be able to advise on a way forward for the project.
