Description
Summary:This case explains how Vimeo.com Inc (Vimeo), a video hosting, sharing, and services platform provider, led by Anjali Sud (CEO), delivered high-definition videos to B2B (Business to Business) clients and created a new entrepreneurial opportunity. Several entrepreneurs, such as flower shop owners, mom-and-pop restaurants, etc., were able to post video ads on social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook using Vimeo's video shooting and editing features. Employing a professional video-making professional or ad company was expensive, especially for cash-crunched entrepreneurs. Through its OTT (Over the Top) platform, Vimeo offered an app for videography services. However, by May 2021, despite reporting profits for a quarter, Vimeo remained undervalued at the launch of its Intellectual Property Office (IPO). Vimeo was also facing increasing competition in the video-making category. How could Sud defeat the competitive threat in the newly captured B2B market space? How could she make the business grow? What could she do to improve the stock market performance of Vimeo? The case encourages students to explore how new business opportunities are created. It also helps students examine growth routes in the B2B market.
