The sore began to affect his mannerisms and performance during OVMs. While employees and other project leaders noticed the sore, and all understood he lived alone with no family in the region, everyone hesitated to intervene with James out of risk of violating the employee handbook or anti-discrimination and privacy laws. But one project leader, Sarah, decided to have a concerned chat with James about his health. That led to a second concerned chat about his fears of dying, thoughts of suicide, and how those fears and thoughts affected his work performance.
