Description
Summary:In early May 2022, a leaked draft majority opinion from the Supreme Court painted an uncertain future for Roe v. Wade, leaving states--some of which had already been increasingly restricting abortion access--free to criminalize abortion. The leaked decision, which was formalized by the Supreme Court on June 24, runs counter to where the majority of U.S. voters stand on a woman's right to choose and defies a consensus among economists that abortion bans will damage the national economy and women's economic freedom. This case examines and asks students to discuss the issue from an economic and business perspective.
