Description
Summary:A Zoom meeting, with very short notice, was called, so only some of The Washington Football Team cheerleaders were able to attend. When the V.P. of Operations and Guest Experiences logged on, he kept his video off. He promptly informed the women that because of rebranding and a new vision for the team, the entire cheerleading program was going to be "paused" immediately. The cheerleaders were put on mute, so they could not ask any questions. In 4 minutes, those on the call saw their careers evaporate. The women reported that they felt the call was unprofessional, and they were given no warning. It felt wrong to not involve them in the rebranding efforts since they knew the program better than anyone. The cheerleaders felt that the way in which they were "fired" was disrespectful, unfair, and left them feeling like collateral damage in the team's efforts to move on from a history of controversies and scandals. Was it? If so, why?
