| Summary: | When put into perspective, the story of the Egyptian Swedish Air Conditioning Co. (ESAC) serves as a microcosm of the wider managerial topic of transformation, or, as it is more colloquially referred to, "change management." Through a series of setbacks, the story delves into the dynamic of running a company through the fast-paced and continually changing environmental factors. As there is no right or wrong answer, the paper seeks to stir debate within a classroom of undergraduate peers, in the hopes of developing their critical thinking capacity and ability to discern the most relevant factors at any given moment to take a calculated risk, and thus guarantee the continued operation of a successful organization. On that note, the story of ESAC, a business-to-business (B2B) local provider of energy-efficient indoor air technology solutions, portrays a kaleidoscope of problems, which have been tackled by CEO Mohamed Farag. As it stands today, the organization is commercially viable but has the opportunity to improve on its performance. In that respect, the paper will seek to reflect on the decisions made to steer the company through the environmental factors at play, and, upon reflection, determine if the actions taken are justifiable and constitute a smooth "transition" within the scope of change management. |
