Description
Summary:Sydney has faced a learning curve during her first six months since accepting a position as the high school sports reporter at The Smithfield Sun. It is expected with most new roles, but the latest issue she is facing is much more challenging than she expected. Last week, as she stood at the press gate for Smithfield High School's playoff football game, several school administrators confronted her about a story published which detailed Smithfield's star running back being investigated by the state athletic association for allegedly transferring illegally. The administrators were clear that her credential would no longer be honored if her coverage continued to be critical toward Smithfield. Sydney knows she was just doing her job, but with Smithfield in line for a championship run, losing her credential would make it impossible to continue covering the team. With most of The Sun's subscriptions and advertisements being sold in Smithfield, Sydney wants to keep the school and community happy, but she also wants to effectively and successfully do her job.
