Positive work stressors, or challenge stressors, create eustress or stress that can be met with positive emotions. Negative work stressors, or hindrance stressors, create stress that can be met with negative emotions, anxiety, and even negative physical responses called strains. This case explores challenge and hindrance stressors and the resultant negative emotions and strains. It also shows the interchange of work and nonwork stressors.
