Her first offer was as a management trainee in BRS India Ltd., yet it came with a less-than-expected salary package, and its role in industrial marketing made her apprehensive. The alternative was a brand management role at Smart Deli, a leading online grocer in India. The work culture at Smart Deli was performance-driven and action-oriented with a lot to do and learn. However, the work environment was chaotic, with little time for significant deliberations and mentoring by the senior managers, which she especially regretted. Her heart preferred Smart Deli, as it offered the brand management role she desired, while her brain directed her toward BRS, a well-known, financially sound company with a structured management trainee program. Anita's problem was that the choice had to be made now with limited and subjective information.
