Summary:Countryside Credit Union (CCU) had a long history of supporting the communities in which it operated. It now wanted to formalize its role through the development of a community impact framework to provide focus and a reporting structure for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This case allows students to explore the significance of the co-operative business model and to consider which framework best reflects a co-operative's community impact. Students will learn how to complete a materiality assessment of factors contributing to community impact and will gain an understanding of targeting initiatives to meet individual community needs. Upon completion of the case, students will have deepened their knowledge of the co-operative form of enterprise.
