Description
Summary:KFC, the American fast-food restaurant chain, has been in the news for wrong reasons in Germany after the company inflamed the sensitivities of Jewish people and other local communities in Europe. In November 2022, the company sent out a notification during Kristallnacht, a German national holiday, asking people to "treat" themselves to KFC products. Although this message was unintentional, many people criticized KFC for ignoring the fact that the day is associated with the events of the Holocaust. By asking people to enjoy and celebrate, KFC disregarded the historic atrocities in Germany and Austria that claimed the lives of millions of people. The management of KFC has issued a public apology, but what other steps should the business take to avoid such mistakes from occurring again? Students will be asked to identify and analyze what aspects a company should be aware of as it becomes global and caters to a difference audience type.
