Description
Summary:When Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, it caused severe harm to the Ukrainian people as many citizens lost their homes or were injured or killed, and several parts of the country were destroyed. Besides wreaking havoc in Ukraine, the war had several ripple effects on the global economy by causing price hikes, food and product shortages, and other inflation-related problems. The sales staff of a pharmaceutical company in New York, US, are upset because of the state of events in the economy. The team members vent their frustration by criticizing the people and politics of Russia. Igor Mikhailov, an employee of Russian origin, listens to their conversation and feels uneasy about remarks made by his fellow employees. He is unsure about what to do next. This case encourages students to explore the negative impacts of certain attitudes and behaviors on individuals and businesses. It also asks the students to determine how organizations can address the issues arising from these stereotypes when certain political events take place in the world.
