| Summary: | The case is about an innovative face mask, SonoMask, launched by Sonovia Ltd. (Sonovia), an Israeli company co-founded by Shay Hershcovich and Shuki J. Hershcovich. The SonoMask Sono-finishing technology was patented and was believed to offer protection against the spread of COVID-19 infection. Bar-Ilan University in Israel provided the technology for SonoMask. Sonovia personnel believed the technology to be revolutionary and much improved over previous textile binding technology such as wet processing. SonoMask was marketed as the world's first reusable antiviral face mask. By December 2020, the co-founders explored ways to further apply the technology in other product lines ranging from Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to carpets to car seat covers. How should the co-founders prioritize applying technology to different product categories? |
