Description
Summary:Considering that women make up 59% of the U.S. labor force, it is notable that they remain underrepresented in the high-paying career field of technology. This case explores the question, "What is causing the lack of women working in tech-based jobs?" through the perspective of a consultant at a mid-sized firm, Tech4U, who must examine why the company is losing female employees and propose a solution. By parsing the results of an employee survey, reviewing literature, and examining quotes from leading women executives at IT organizations, the consultant presents the arguments for mentorship programs. Based on the literature review and tech executive experiences, the case characters formulate suggestions for establishing equality in the tech industry.
