Summary:	The application of a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) is important for determining the intensity and physical stimulus guiding the prescription of aerobic exercise training in multiple sclerosis (MS). There are three essential steps for successfully applying CPET. The three steps involve (a) screening for contraindications of CPET, (b) delivering the CPET itself, and (c) determining the intensity and physical stimulus of an aerobic exercise training prescription based on the data collected during the CPET. This case study describes those three steps and then highlights the application and roadblocks involved with CPET performed on a motor-driven treadmill in people with MS.
