| Summary: | Collective case studies provide insight into the lives of individuals living with a condition or impairment and a specific topic of study. This case provides insight on the process of a collective case study, titled "The everyday lives of older adults with visual impairment: An occupational perspective." The study used interviews and observations to reveal the everyday lives of older adults with visual impairment. Participants completed four interviews and two observation sessions over a period of 3 months. As the researcher, I met with the participants in the home and community settings to explore their engagement in activities. Observation sessions confirmed self-reported data from the interview sessions. This text reviews several lessons I learned about the collective case study methodology from my study, including the importance of multiple interviews and observation sessions, flexibility in time for scheduling sessions with participants, and having the time to complete the study without rushing any aspect of the study. Overall, the study successfully captured the lives of three individuals living with visual impairment. |
