Summary:Smartphone applications (apps) are software programmes run on mobile devices that permit users to quickly and efficiently access information and produce and share data. That digital technology enables users to consume and produce content by effectively mediating interaction and the acquisition of information. Embedded within apps are different mediums through which information is presented, created, and shared. Examples include diaries, interactive storyboards, digital pinboards, built-in cameras and voice recorders, discussion boards, text message pages, profile pages, and file depositories. In these mediums, information is shared privately, publically, with specific followers or friends, or within a community/group. To create content, different functions are used (e.g., a keyboard to write text or send/create emojis, voice recorders to create audio, and/or cameras to create photos, images, or videos). ...
