Summary:	Police are exposed to traumatic or violent events over the course of their careers, and accumulated stress from routine exposure combined with fatigue places officers at a higher risk for developing operational stress injuries (OSIs). OSIs include mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder. While many studies focus on operational stressors as the main contributing factor for the development of OSI, there are indications that organizational stressors, frequently experienced by officers, are also highly likely to contribute to OSI development and have been overlooked in the research literature. Organizational stressors include experiences such as unfair treatment by supervisors or harassment from peers or managers. Currently, OSI treatment initiatives for organizational stressors are not widely implemented across police forces due to the lack of knowledge regarding their contribution to mental health. This study aimed to explore organizational stress' influence on depressive symptoms in a sample of nonclinical, active-duty police officers using a cross-sectional, self-reported survey design. This case study discusses designing experiments to study occupational stress and mental health among police, the challenges encountered, and how the challenges influence data analyses and future experimental design considerations.
