| Summary: | This case study explores the personal journey of my experiences of using narrative research as a research methodology when exploring Irish nurses' experiences and understandings of reflective practice. The research question proposed was, "What are Irish nurses' experiences and understandings of reflective practice?" The focus was within the Irish context, and there was no evidence of prior research on this topical area from an Irish perspective. A convenience sample of eight newly qualified nurses from a third-level college, in which I am employed as a lecturer, was used as the method of data collection, and thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. This case study does not concern itself with comparing and contrasting research methodologies--it goes further by deepening the understanding of narrative research to the reader and its application within the field of research. Rather, it is the reflection of my experiences using narrative research as a methodology. |
