| Summary: | Decolonising research processes and practices is a challenge faced by many Western institutions. In a contemporary age it is important not to act in a tokenistic manner. Therefore, this guide provides strategies that can be used by researchers, in a pragmatic manner, when seeking to balance Indigenous and Western perspectives in research activities. Research perspectives are grounded in research knowledge and its acquisition. Consequently, it is argued that researchers must demonstrate relationality, responsibility, respect, representation, reciprocity, and relevance in all undertakings. Likewise, to build mutual trust across Indigenous and Western stakeholders, a 'two-eye seeing' strategy ensures learning from the strengths of both Indigenous and Western communities. |
