Description
Summary:This case study describes how I used Amazon's Mechanical Turk as a participant pool when searching for representative sample in LGBTQ+ research. The focus of this case study is on the methodological practice of using crowdsourcing sites, such as Mechanical Turk to gather a larger, more representative LGBTQ+ sample size. Specifically, through my research experiences, I present the advantages, challenges, and implications of using Mechanical Turk to gain a larger LGBTQ+ participant pool with a quicker turnaround. Finally, I provide recommendations on how to use screening tools and the specific Mechanical Turk elements in your own future LGBTQ+ research.
