| Summary: | This case documents the use of case study research methodology to explore how mobile business organizations build capabilities to develop mobile services. The case is set around a project whose researcher relied on the supervisor to gain access to two research sites. Face-to-face interviews, artifact examination, and document were used to gather evidence to write a case description, which was later analyzed using a priori research framework based on the dynamic capability theory. Based on previous sample articles and guidance from project supervisor, the analysis was successful; however, it is envisaged that future case study-based projects would follow the grounded theory approach to achieve more rigorous data analysis. Despite the challenges, the case study method was largely successful. Therefore, anyone seeking to understand an organizational phenomenon in a real-life context should consider using the case study method. |
