Description
Summary:A research case study framed within the context of community-based participatory research (CBPR) demonstrated that participants can learn about the research process while gaining self-awareness and analyzing meaningful data for their profession. Data collected were analyzed through the first cycle coding method of in vivo coding and the second cycle coding method of axial coding. This methods case explains the process of conducting community-based participatory research, analyzing qualitative data using in vivo and axial coding, and writing a complete case study report using online communication. Researchers efficiently communicated using online shared documents, though the team learned that choosing mutually agreeable shared technology was a priority. Researchers found that CBPR was a positive modality for self-monitoring growth. Researchers learned that although CBPR suggests equality in interactions among the researchers, the need for a team leader was necessary for the synchronous scheduling of meetings and to encourage flexibility and motivation.
