Description
Summary:This case study explores the process of adapting a research study to online methods during the COVID-19 pandemic. The case study explores the use of the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceptions methodology to analyze climate change awareness among staff and students at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. We found that the process of adapting the research design was aided by the existence of open-source online survey tools that made the survey development process easier. However, COVID-19 impacted on timelines of the study, the sampling methodology and final survey uptake that in turn impacted the results. The study also finds potential exclusion of participants due to internet access, email checking habits, and other challenges. The study finds potential for researchers in developing countries to adapt to online study with the need for improvement in institutional factors and investigation into local factors affecting survey uptake.
