| Summary: | This dataset is designed for teaching thematic analysis of qualitative focus group and interview data, provided by Dr. Janne Gaub from East Carolina University and Dr. Natalie Todak from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. It is drawn from our experiences by conducting and analyzing 17 focus groups with 72 police officers who worked in specialized police units in two police departments. We discuss how to analyze the dataset as a whole for broad patterns and how to break the sample into categories for more focused assessments of individual needs and concerns. The dataset file is accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide. |
