| Summary: | This dataset is designed for teaching dialogical analysis of documents such as, for example, speeches. These data are provided by Dr. Joe MacDonagh from the Institute of Technology Tallaght's School of Business & Humanities, and are drawn from a publicly available transcript of Prime Minister Theresa May's first speech as Prime Minister, outside 10 Downing St., in 2016. The example focuses on how politicians' speeches can be qualitatively examined as dialogues in which we can see how politicians achieve particular positions and answer potential criticisms before they are made. The dataset file is accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide. |
